According to the World Health Organization (WHO), coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus (SARS-Cov2), which may cause mild to moderate respiratory complications in most infected people. El Hiba Omar is professor of physiopathology, neuroscience and histology, Faculty of Sciences, Chouaib Doukkali University, He was born in 12 September 1985 in Marrakech-Safi state (Morocco) and was graduated in 2007 from Cadi Ayyad University (Morocco) with a bachelor degree in Biology. In 2009, hewas graduated from the same university with Master’s degree in Life and Health Sciences. He obtained his PhD in 2015 on the “Physiopathology of Hepatic Encephalopathy” from Cadi Ayyad University. He is, since 2014, member of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorders Society (MDS), USA and the vice-President of the Moroccan Society of Ethics and Animal Research (MoSEAR).

Jayakumar Radhakrishnan is currently an Associate Professor/Scientist at the Neuropathology Unit, SFVAFRE, VA Medical Center in Miami, USA, as well as a Scientist at the Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Miami, Fl. He graduated from the Postgraduate Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Madras, Chennai, India in 1998. He discovered the effect of the ammonia-detoxicating action of L-Arginine on experimentally induced convulsions in rats. He then continued his research as Research Associate in Bio-Organic Laboratory and created a Neurochemistry Laboratory at the Central Leather Research Institute, Adayar, Chennai, India. Later, from 2000-2004, he was a Post-doctoral Fellow at the Division of Neuropathology, Department of Pathology, University of Miami School of Medicine, Miami, FL, Research Assistant Professor until2012. His research area mainly focused on the understanding of the physiopathology of Hepatic Encephalopathy, especially the role of ammonia, gliopathy, neuroinflammation and brain edema in different animal models of acute and hepatic liver failures, as well as in chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). Dr. Jayakumar was honored with many international and national awards, including the American Association for the study of Liver diseases and American Liver Foundation Award, Stanley J. Glaser Award for outstanding scientists from the Stanley J. Glaser foundation, Florida, Distinguished Basic Science Research award, Miami VA. With over of 100 publications and 50 international communications, Dr.Jayakumaris considered as one of the eminent specialists in hepatic encephalopathy worldwide. His research area has gained particular scientific interest and was funded through over 10 international and national funded projects. He is currently investigating the mechanisms of SARS-CoV-2 infection in humans, as well as in experimental models of COVID-19. He recently discovered novel drugs to prevent COVID-19. He is currently an Editor in many journals including Current Issues in Molecular Biology, Frontiers in Neurosciences, BioMed Research International etc., and also acts as an Editorial Board member in more than a dozen international journals.

Tiziano Balzano is currently Postdoctoral research fellow at the HM CINAC, Hospital Universitario HM Puerta del Sur (Madrid, Spain). He completed his PhD in Neuroscience in the Laboratory of Neurobiology at the Príncipe Felipe Research Center (Valencia, Spain) on hepatic encephalopathy in September 2017. His PhD thesis was focused on the underlying mechanisms by which neuroinflammation produces cognitive and motor alterations in liver diseases. Now he holds the position of Postdoctoral research fellow and his works focus on the role of neuroinflammation and neurovascular unit in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease. Dr. Balzano has published over than 30 international articles, book chapters and conference papers in well recognized peer reviewed journals and international scientific meetings.

Faical Isbaine was born in Beni Mellal in the middle atlas mountains of Morocco, in 1986, and studied in the little town of Tiznit in the southern part of Morocco up to the age of 18. He moved to Marrakech in 2004 to pursue his college studies at the Cadi Ayyad University of Marrakech, where he obtained an MS in “Life Sciences and Health”. He obtained his PhD degree in Neurosciences at the Aix-Marseille University, 2009-2015 (Marseille, France), after which he started a postdoctoral cursus at the Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland, Ohio) between May and August 2015. The Pr. Isbaine relocated to join the Neurosurgery Department at the Emory University Hospital (Atlanta, Georgia) and was part of the Movement Disorders Team clinic. Between 2016 and 2019, Faical was involved in Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgeries at the EUH - from planning surgeries, intra-operative neurophysiological recording and stimulation, and postoperative lead localization and quality assessment, creating a tight link between the neurosurgery and neurology team. Attracted by the humanitarian, clinical and scientific impact of the DBS field, he trained to become an intraoperative neurophysiologist, actively participating in a few hundred surgical implantations. In July 2019, he was promoted to the position of Assistant Professor. Since then, and with the evolution of the clinical practice at the EUH, he has supported all intraoperative neurophysiology and research related to it. His scientific interest evolved over time, from the social neurosciences and neural basis of human interactions; a field he cherished and strove to reengage in, to the fast evolving field of Deep Brain Stimulation in general and DBS for movement disorders especially, where the mechanisms and subtle neurophysiological signatures are still being investigated. Pr. Isbaine had the privilege of working with great mentors and collaborators, including Dr. Boussaoud (PhD advisor) and Dr. Gale (Post-Doc advisor), as mentors during key periods of his scientific cursus as well as others such as Drs. Gross, Willie, Boulis, Au Yong Great (EUH, Neurosurgery), Drs. Delong, Wichmann and Miocinovic (EUH, Neurology).
