A grainy photograph, a desperate cry for help, and two old friends dragged back into a nightmare they thought they'd escaped forever.
Lotte Schwarz and Eric Schneider haven't spoken since high school-since the day they stumbled upon an otherworldly portal and unleashed a creature that nearly destroyed them both. Eric has spent years rebuilding his shattered life, trying to forget the terror that still haunts his dreams. But when Lotte suddenly reappears, beautiful, magnetic, and terrified, she shatters his fragile peace once more.
Now an even deadlier ancient evil is awakening-something far more powerful and merciless than the horror they faced before. Eric and Lotte, pulled back into each other's orbit against Eric's better judgment, must confront the incomprehensible again... or watch the world around them descend into darkness.
