But nothing prepared her for the fateful choice she was forced to make that day--or the unsettling revelation that her purpose isn't as simple as she thought. Now torn between her growing feelings for Christian and her love for her boyfriend, Tucker, Clara is pulled deeper into the hidden world of part angels and the escalating war between White Wings and Black Wings. Worse, a devastating new vision reveals a terrifying truth: someone close to her will die within months. With her future more uncertain than ever, one thing is clear--the fire was only the beginning. Love Triangle: Clara's feelings for both Christian and Tucker deepen just as the stakes rise, forcing impossible choices between duty and desire. Expanding Mythology: The battle lines between White Wings and Black Wings sharpen, pulling Clara deeper into a war bigger than herself. Emotional, Character-Driven Sequel: A heart-wrenching follow-up that balances the all-consuming joy of first love with the agony of loss. Fated Purpose vs. Free Will: Clara's "task" is no longer straightforward--she must decide how much of her destiny she's willing to accept.…

For months Clara Gardner trained to face the fire from her visions, but she wasn't prepared for the choice she had to make that day. And in the aftermath, she discovered that nothing about being part angel is as straightforward as she thought.
Now, torn between her love for Tucker and her complicated feelings about the roles she and Christian seem destined to play in a world that is both dangerous and beautiful, Clara struggles with a shocking revelation: Someone she loves will die in a matter of months. With her future uncertain, the only thing Clara knows for sure is that the fire was just the beginning.
In this compelling sequel to Unearthly, Cynthia Hand captures the joy of first love, the anguish of loss, and the confusion of becoming who you are.
