Nearly 1 out of every 100 people worldwide is a person displaced and seeking asylum, imperiled by persecution and war. Half the World takes measure of that staggering crisis in stories from a city transformed.
Compelling. Anyone who wants to understand the people we label 'refugees' must read this book." - Jan Reeves, director, Idaho Office for Refugees
"Magnificent. The stories inspire equal parts joy and heartbreak. They are essential reading, and are now as much a part of Idaho's history as any other chronicle." - George Prentice, news editor, the Boise Weekly

Review
"Magnificent. The stories inspire equal parts joy and heartbreak. They are essential reading, and are now as much a part of Idaho's history as any other chronicle."
- GEORGE PRENTICE, NEWS EDITOR, THE BOISE WEEKLY
"Half the World is a compelling anthology portraying deep personal suffering and the resilience and fortitude that lead to eventual transcendence. Refugee voices take center stage and offer the reader a peek into the kaleidoscope of culture, experience and personal determination to find peace and opportunity. From the homey comforts of teff injera to the jubilant celebration of World Refugee Day, there is a clear message that refugees contribute a great deal to the communities where they resettle. Anyone who wants to understand who the people we label 'refugee' are and the richness that they bring to their adoptive communities must read this book."
--JAN REEVES, DIRECTOR, IDAHO OFFICE FOR REFUGEES
