Reprint - "six hundredth thousand" (as stated upon copyright page). [2], 140 pages. Paperback; H 17.75cm x L 13.25cm. Dark brown paper covers, two negligibly small chips at fore-edge of front cover with one minor chip at fore-edge of rear cover, light bumping to spine heel. Initial unpaged leaf has half-title and b/w portrait image of Lost Battalion commander Lt. Col. Charles W. Whittlesey on recto panels with verso two-panel frontispiece foldout having b/w photograph image the Lost Battalion itself. Presentation bookplate from a Davenport, Iowa branch of The Veterans of Foreign Wars on the half-title panel. Colorful VFW membership pamphlet laid-in at title page. Pages are clean and binding is firm. A very good copy. Features poetry by Lee Charles McCollum and a brief history of the WWI Lost Battalion which was comprised of nine units of the United States 77th Division who were cut off and surrounded by German forces during a planned advance in the Argonne Forest in October 1918.
