Reprint of a work originally published in 1658. Complete in 3 volumes with a new introduction by Willy Ley. The first major book on animals printed in Great Britain in English and it appeared at the last moment in history when all zoological knowledge since antiquity could be summarized sympathetically before it was considered a curiosity by the many new discoveries soon to come. Comprising: VOL 1 The History of Four-footed Beasts, Vol 2 The History of Serpents & vol 3 The Theatre of Insects. A very good set, little age yellowing to the pages, entirely clean and free of any former owner marking of any kind.
