12 volumes octavo 8 1/2 x 5 1/4 inches, HANDSOMELY LEATHER BOUND in full period diced calf, twin leather lettering labels, simple tooling. Marbled endpapers. A lovely period binding, small areas where the gilt has rubbed and a few age marks but a genuine, unpolished, country house set. Joints all solid. Complete in twelve volumes, illustrated with two large folding maps and an engraved frontispiece of Gibbon. Minor spotting but text clean. A good copy of one of the great classics.
