You don’t need to be an elite athlete to hike the Appalachian Trail.
You don’t need perfect gear, unlimited money, or years of experience.
You just need the right plan—and the determination to take the first step.
The Appalachian Trail is one of the most iconic long-distance hikes in the world—stretching over 2,000 miles across rugged mountains, dense forests, and breathtaking landscapes. Every year, thousands set out to conquer it… but only a fraction make it to the end.
Why?
Because the Appalachian Trail is not just a hike—it’s a test of endurance, planning, mindset, and resilience.
Whether you’re dreaming of a full thru-hike in 2026, planning a section hike, or simply exploring what it takes to complete this legendary journey, preparation is everything.
But getting started can feel overwhelming.
How do you plan a 2,000+ mile journey?
What gear do you actually need—and what’s just extra weight?
How much will it really cost?
