Are You Ready to Operate High-Pressure Boilers with Greater Confidence, Safety, and Control?
High-pressure boiler operation leaves no room for uncertainty. One overlooked warning sign, misunderstood control, or incorrect procedure can lead to costly downtime, equipment damage, regulatory violations, or serious safety risks.
Do you feel overwhelmed by complicated boiler terminology, codes, calculations, and operating procedures?
Are you preparing for a licensing examination but unsure which subjects deserve your greatest attention?
Would you feel more confident with one practical reference that explains not only what to do, but why each action matters?
High-Pressure Boiler Operator’s Manual is a comprehensive, code-grounded guide created for boiler operators, engineers, technicians, maintenance professionals, trainees, and licensing candidates who want to understand high-pressure boiler systems clearly and apply that knowledge responsibly.
Inside, you will discover how steam, fuel, water, controls, pressure, temperature, and safety systems work together as one complete operating system.
This manual will help you:
• Understand steam generation and essential boiler thermodynamics
• Distinguish fire-tube, water-tube, drum-type, and once-through boiler designs
• Master combustion systems, burner controls, fuel handling, and flame safeguards
• Improve feedwater treatment, blowdown control, and corrosion prevention
• Follow disciplined startup, shutdown, load-change, and routine operating procedures
• Interpret gauges, alarms, control loops, safety valves, and boiler-room instrumentation
• Strengthen efficiency while reducing avoidable heat, fuel, and water losses
• Prepare for inspections, licensing examinations, and regulatory responsibilities
• Respond more effectively to low-water conditions, flame failure, tube failure, overpressure, and other emergencies
• Learn from worked examples, practice problems, checklists, troubleshooting guidance, and real-world failure case studies
You will also uncover why many serious boiler incidents begin with small warning signs—and how trained operators recognize those signs before they become major emergencies.
Concerned that the material may be too technical? The book progresses from fundamental principles to advanced field applications, explaining important concepts step by step and showing calculations with clearly tracked units.
Already experienced in boiler operations? The detailed compliance discussions, operating checklists, troubleshooting sections, efficiency calculations, and case studies make it a valuable daily reference—not merely an introductory textbook.
Preparing for an examination? The learning objectives, worked examples, practice questions, boxed answers, summaries, and licensing guidance provide a structured way to strengthen your knowledge and identify areas requiring further study.
The manual is aligned with the operating principles and safety frameworks associated with ASME Section I, the National Board Inspection Code, NFPA 85/86, OSHA requirements, and other recognized industry references. It is designed to support—not replace—manufacturer instructions, accredited training, current code publications, professional engineering judgment, or jurisdictional licensing requirements.
It also makes a practical and thoughtful gift for a boiler operator, engineering student, apprentice, plant technician, maintenance professional, or licensing candidate who wants an easier way to understand the complex world of high-pressure boiler operation.
Get your copy of High-Pressure Boiler Operator’s Manual today and take the next step toward safer, more efficient, and more compliant boiler operation.

Store description
**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first purchase with us, or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book.
