This entire and authoritative work of reference has been planned to take account of the great advances that have been made in ornithological knowledge since the publication of the "Handbook of British Birds" (1938-41) which for many years provided the basis on which ornithological research in the UK was built. Ornithologists now work on a wider geographical basis, and these handbooks covers the whole of the Western Paleartic, which includes all Europe together with the Middle East to Turkey, Iraq, and Jordon, and Africa south to about 19 degrees North. Within the nine volumes are: Descriptions of over 770 species of birds, illustrations of each species in the form of specially commissioned colour plates. Colour Plates of eggs, black and white illustrations and many text figures showing such features as display postures, flight views, voice sonagrams, and melograms and annual cycles. A bibliography and indexes in each volume. This complete set is an indispensible work of reference, both for the professional scientist and for the ever growing body of amatuer ornithologists whose range of interests is expanding every year. Please note these books are comprehensive and are large volumes and when packaged together are packaged in a proper box/case to ship, therefore postage/shipping may increase from listed price depending on final destination. Please do contact to get a shipping quotation. An amazing collection of nine books that have been put together by so many talented individuals. The perfect reference for anyone who has an interest in birds.…
