To begin, this is a love story about food and a passion for health. At its center are two people—Betsy, a gymnastics, fitness and nutrition coach; and French chef, Mess—who are spiritually and forever bonded by both. Together, they apply their extensive experience with nutrition to offer a wealth of delicious, functional, balanced, real-food options for performance and health. In addition to functional recipes and snacks, there are vegetarian and allergy-friendly versions of burgers and pizza and European specialties like apple soufflé and dark chocolate molten cupcakes. Both experts share wisdom on superfoods for athletes, specific strategies for gymnasts’ nutrition during a calendar year, and scrumptious ways to incorporate the delectable, healthy spices and ingredients of Chef Mess’s culinary background.
GymnaChef 2 includes over 70 recipes for:
- Great-start breakfasts, including Funberry Pancakes and the Bonjour Tangerine and Kiwi shake.
- Energizing mid-competition snacks like Mess’s Competition Crunch Bars and Peanut Butter Whip and Chips.
- Nutrient-rich dishes like the Balance Beam Brussels Sprouts Soup and Purple Cauliflower Mash-up.
- Delicious functional dinners like Baked Mini Zucchini and Basil Pizzas and the Bison Burger with Yogurt Sauce.
- Vitamin-dense and decadent seasonal desserts like the Harvest Apple Soufflé and Functional Dark Chocolate Molten.
BETSY MCNALLY LAOUAR is a NSCA-certified personal trainer, certified sports nutritionist, professional bodybuilder, author, podcaster, and former gymnast. She works with gymnasts, from beginner level ones all the way up to Elites and Olympians, on nutrition and fitness through her online training programs, speaking engagements, and traveling Betsy Bootcamps. She specializes in promoting balance, positive and healthy body image, non-restrictive and performance nutrition, and strength training for gymnasts.
MESS LAOUAR’s passion for cooking started at a very early age. After graduating culinary school, he worked in many diverse restaurants and caterers in France and America, specializing in the regional cooking of Alsace. His recipes are heavily influenced by the south of France, where he lived for almost a decade, as well as his parents’ Algerian cooking and heritage. He is certified in sports nutrition, and he caters parties and events in and around the Cincinnati area. He works with his wife, Betsy, in creating catered meals and camps for her athletes. Store description
Sharing is the best surprise When we share our excess with others we¿re often surprised by what we feel, what changes in us, and who we get to know in the process. Sharehouse Goods exists to create that experience for as many people as possible. Sharehouse Goods receives excess stuff from individuals or organizations (our sharers), and then we liquidate that stuff, creating jobs for people in Milwaukee. The process is simple: we receive what people are willing to share, and then we sell it online or at our storefront, creating revenue for the sharers (to keep or to donate), and jobs for people who are struggling to find employment. There¿s a lot of sharing going on, and even more surprises, at Sharehouse Goods.…
