Inside the crumbling tower, they don't find ghosts, but something far more dangerous: a massive, celestial machine hidden within the stone. When a pulse of mysterious blue light awakens the ancient gears, Aiden and Iain accidentally trigger a cosmic beacon, alerting a terrifying shadow-creature to their presence.
Now, trapped in a shifting, gravity-defying tower that is rapidly becoming a high-tech starship, the boys must use nothing more than a magnifying glass, a math ruler, and their own wits to outrun a supernatural parasite. As the stars themselves begin to align, Aiden and Iain find themselves caught in a desperate race to repair a fray in the time-stream before their village—and their world—is changed forever.
