From the Publisher
Each chapter encourages students to analyze their own communication behavior and to place that behavior in a group context. For example, this book includes exceptionally thorough coverage of leadership and conflict'and not merely from the view of a designated leader but from the view of all potential group participants.
The text continues to focus on task-oriented and decision-making groups.
A "troubleshooting guide" can be found at the end of the text; the guide is organized around the questions most commonly asked by students and clients.
A new appendix, Appendix A: Public Small Group Presentations, presents formats for public small group presentations as well as instruction on how to create and deliver effective oral presentations.
New coverage concerning ethnic diversity has been added throughout the text (example: in Chapter 1'additional challenges ethnic diversity plays over groups that are not ethnically diverse).
Research throughout the text has been updated.
Each chapter now includes Recommended Websites that helps facilitate exploration of topics and issues related to the study of small group.
Two popular boxes, "Focus on Research" and "Question of Ethics and Responsibility", have been retained in the new edition.
