Robert Fraser - taste-maker, hedonist, lousy businessman, promiscuous homosexual - was the celebrated art-dealer responsible for introducing the London art world to Peter Blake, Jim Dine, Richard Hamilton, Bridget Riley and Andy Warhol among others. In this exceptional biography, Harriet Vyner recreates not only an extraordinary, seminal figure but also an exciting and colourful era - 1960s London. Told through the voices of those who knew Fraser best - Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Marianne Faithfull, Kenneth Anger, Dennis Hopper and Vyner herself - Groovy Bob was acclaimed on first publication as a brilliant biography and a portrait of the most exhilarating period in post-war British social history.
About the Author: Harriet Vyner was brought up in London, Yorkshire and Sussex. She has collaborated in a screenplay about Albert Pierrepoint, the last hangman, and worked on several projects with Jools Holland, including co-authorship of the book Beat Route. She has recently been working on two documentaries - one about Robert Fraser and the other about Francis Bacon. Harriet Vyner was a great friend of Robert Fraser from the late 1970s until his death in 1986.

VG+ *Mick Jagger in the intro of the prologue says; "Robert in a way was more like a man from the fifties. But this what was interesting about the sixties, like every decade or time period.I was thinking about this-- I'd just come back from Morocco (which Robert loved), where I had sat on the bank of a river watching a man ford the river with his donkey and another man on the other side waving, who'd walked across carrying his bicycle, which looked as if it had been designed in 1890. There I was, with my Japanese car at the top--We were not living in the same place". Life of a man who attracted the best and brightest. Seller Inventory # 4306
