Tasker, Robert Joyce, [1903-1944]. Grimhaven. New York: A.A. Knopf, 1928. [3], 241 pp. Original cloth in worn dust jacket in a mylar covering. A large piece of front dust jacket missing and bound with tape. Author's presentation inscription "Love/ Len D. Owens Sr./ with sincere best wishes/ Robert Joyce Tasker/ Culver City- Feb. 17th 1930" to front free endpaper. Internally clean. $450. * Robert Joyce Tasker was an American writer and screenwriter. While serving a five-year sentence for robbery in San Quentin Prison, Tasker wrote this autobiographical account about his prison life, Grimhaven. After his release, the success of his book permitted Tasker to become a Hollywood screenwriter. In 1942, he relocated to Mexico City to work for various film producers. Len D. Owens was an advertising and billboard executive and the father of Academy award winning screenwriter Frances Marion.
