Join the galaxy's most notorious con man, Rex Nihilo, and his ever-loyal, ever-exasperated robot sidekick, Sasha, in their craziest adventure yet! Marooned on a planet whose inhabitants have modeled their civilization on World War II movies, Rex and Sasha have only one hope of escape: unearth a secret cache of weapons that's been hidden somewhere on the planet. To find the weapons, they must spearhead an assault on an impregnable mountain fortress, blow up a strategically vital bridge, and bake an impressive number of cream puffs.
The war is make-believe, but Rex and Sasha's predicament is all-too-real, and to get off Yurp the duo find that they have no choice but to beat the Yurpians at their own game. With Rex's cunning schemes and Sasha's dry wit, they're prepared to turn the tide of history—over and over again.
Packed with the trademark humor and relentless fun of the Rex Nihilo series, "A GRIFT TOO FAR" is a side-splitting journey through the absurdities of war and the ingenuity of a con artist. Can Rex and Sasha pull off the ultimate grift and escape Yurp? Or will they become permanent fixtures in the planet's never-ending wartime farce?
Praise for Starship Grifters
"My favorite read this year. A hilarious space adventure. Hard book to put down." ―Hugh Howey, author of Wool
"Starship Grifters... is not just the funniest SF novel I've read in decades, it may be the funniest I've read ever.... Funnier than Harry Harrison's Bill the Galactic Hero series, and [it] may even match Douglas Adam's Hitchhiker series." - Travis Corcoran, Prometheus Award-winning author of The Powers of the Earth
"Starship Grifters is one of the funniest things I’ve ever experienced. It is certainly the funniest book I’ve read." ―N.R. LaPoint, author of Chalk
"Laugh-out loud funny. I loved every page of it. If you like sci-fi and laughter, this is the book for you!" ―Rob Blackwell, author of The Forest of Forever
"This is a funny, funny book. It is loveably absurd and ridiculously extravagant." ―Benjamin Espen
"Damn, I laughed.... This novel is funny, and should be approached only by those looking for a damn good reason to laugh." ―John Daulton
"Funny SF is tricky. Funny SF that holds up over an entire novel is a rarity. The writing in this book is sharp, tight, and clever. I laughed out loud enough to lose track of tally or occurrence. In a word, this novel is SMART." ―SFFAudio.com
"It’s kind of like Foucault’s Pendulum in space but without 500 pages of Italians discussing European history." ―Castalia House
"Kroese is the premier writer of humorous genre fiction in the indie sphere."
―J. Manfred Weichsel, author of Five Maidens on the Pentagram

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
