This beautiful aerial view, oriented with east at the top, presents the sprawling complex of Greenfield Village. The 80-acre parcel is largely comprised of the collection of Henry Ford, who was deeply interested preserving in American history and the legacy of the Industrial Revolution (in addition to his posthumous legacy). Dozens of historic sites (or replicas) personally acquired by Ford and relocated to the area are shown. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the first area of interest listed on the map is the parking lot! Eighty-five additional local historic attractions are numbered and depicted within the image; including slave huts, the birthplace of Orville Wright, the Edison homestead (and laboratory), a log cabin, a tintype studio, and the steamer Suwanee. Illustrated by C. Bowman (signed, lower left) and copy written in 1951 by the Edison Institute (today's Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation) in Dearborn. The map is rare on the market and listed in only four institutions in WorldCat as of March 2025 - The Newberry Library, the Library of Michigan, and the University of Michigan (two copies). OCLC# 35066136 Sheet Width (in) 27 Sheet Height (in) 21.75 Condition Description Color lithographed map on thick, textured laid paper. Moderate wear along the outer edges of the sheet, including creasing, tiny tears, and scattered discoloration (see upper center). The image retains its vibrant color and overall remains in very good condition.
