In a house of wealth, every heir is a suspect.
A gunshot in a locked library. The victim: a millionaire with a will that leaves everything to his two beautiful nieces. For the police, it’s a baffling, impossible crime. For private detective Nick Carter, it’s just another Tuesday in a city drowning in greed.
When Carter steps into the Leavenworth mansion, he walks into a gilded cage of grief and glamour. He sees past the crocodile tears to the rot of ambition beneath. The prime suspects are the very women who stand to inherit a fortune—the elegant Mary and the fiery Eleanore. One is a pawn in a deadly game. The other is a cold-blooded killer.
Trapped in a labyrinth of family secrets, jealous whispers, and calculated lies, Carter must unravel a family's dark soul to expose the truth. But in this world of privilege, the truth is a weapon, and the killer has been hiding in plain sight all along.
This is the second thrilling case file in a series that reimagines classic detective stories with a hardboiled punch. Perfect for fans of locked-room mysteries and gritty noir, this is a puzzle box where every clue is stained with betrayal.
