"To demonstrate the method and art of a textual critic, Mr. Renehan presents a series of specific examples in eighty-two sections which deal with passages involving dubious readings. In discussing the difficulties of each assage in detail he reveals such causes of textual corruption as trivialization, visual and aural confusions, interpolation, transposition, misreading of uncial letters, false division of words, haplography, dittography, and deliberate tampering." Orange cloth boards with silver lettering on spine. Pages are tight and clean, with slight foxing on edges, and penciled inscription on frontispiece. Unclipped orange dustjacket is faded along top and spine, with small tears on top edge. 13.4 oz.
