W. D. Lowe, LittD, MA provided the foundation for this work. Military commitments necessitated by World War I intervened and he asked C. E. Freeman, MA, to complete the reader for publication. The English classicists also collaborated on Livy: Rome and Her Kings, Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers (1998). Lowe also authored Selections in Attic Greek from Herodotus: The War of Greece and Persia, Bolchazy-Carducci (1984).
