Hardcover. From Skiathos and Corfu to Rhodes and Santorini, The Greek Islands is a portrait of the Aegean and the Ionian: their whitewashed harbours, their ancient stones, and the long, unhurried hours that are their truest pleasure.Across four island groups, the Sporades, the Ionian Islands, the Dodecanese and the Cyclades, this collector edition travels from pine covered northern shores to the sun bleached cubes of the Cyclades, taking in the Venetian towns of the west, the crusader walls and sponge divers of the southeast, and the volcanic drama of Santorini. Between the islands themselves it lingers over the things that bind them: the history that shaped them, the food that gathers people to the table, the festivals that mark the turning year, and the deep, patient rhythm of island life.Part travelogue and part meditation, richly illustrated and quietly written, The Greek Islands is a book to return to, an invitation to a slower way of seeing one of the oldest and most beautiful corners of the world.
