Condition: Very Good. Large heavy folio. 2nd edition. 139pp. Text in French. 2nd edition of In Greece, by Hills and Valleys, by the famous Swiss photographer and Graecophile Frederic Boissonas, who composed the book from the vast collection of negatives he had accumulated during his many trips to Greece. This is the 2nd edition of the book, the 1st edition published in 1910--the 2nd was also limited, but with a larger print run. Rebound in sturdy green leather, all of the original included, with text of handmade paper. 40 full page rotogravure plates with tissue guards, with numerous other rotogravures in-text. With red Grecian devices at the chapter heads, page breaks, and on the page heads throughout the text. There is some foxing on the endpapers, through the prelims and in the endtables, and there is also some slight, very occasional foxing inside, but not affecting the plates or in-text photos. The paper is remarkably little aged for a book of this vintage, just some very slight browning toward the very top of the text, but the text itself is still clean and bright. A good, solid copy of Boissonas' gorgeous and lavishly produced love letter to Greece. This is a very large and heavy book and will require additional shipping. In uncertain economic times, what better way to invest your hard-earned money than in items of lasting value you can hold in hand and enjoy.…
