So You Got the Privacy Officer Title is the essential guide for privacy professionals who’ve found themselves in a role that’s as complex as it is critical. Whether you’re newly appointed, evolving into the position, or simply trying to make sense of what being a Privacy Officer actually entails, this book offers clarity, confidence, and a practical path forward.

Written by seasoned privacy expert Teresa “T” Troester-Falk, this book demystifies the responsibilities, expectations, and strategic influence of the Privacy Officer role. She draws on over two decades of building and advising programs to show how privacy works inside real organizations with tight budgets, limited authority, and constant business demands. The book translates principles into actions you can use immediately.

More than a guide for privacy professionals, it’s a strategic resource for business leaders who want to understand what effective privacy operations look like, what evidence to ask for, how to separate knowledge from experience in hiring and onboarding, and how to support outcomes without slowing the business.
