Print on Demand. This book explores the relationship between the Gospel message and the Creed, arguing that both are essential for the proclamation of the Christian faith. The author argues that while the Gospel provides the divine answer to the doubts and hopes of man, a definite faith expressed in the form of a creed is essential for its effective communication. The author examines the influence of Greek philosophy and mystery religions on the development of Christian doctrine and the importance of the Nicene Creed in clarifying and protecting the teachings of the New Testament. The book also discusses the role of the Church in interpreting the Bible and guiding the faithful in the application of Christian principles to new ages and circumstances, while also acknowledging the need to avoid undue reliance on tradition by critically evaluating historical and metaphysical claims. The author concludes by emphasizing the importance of studying the history of the Church and adopting a liberal approach to the nature of truth in order to understand the full meaning of the Gospel and the Creed in the present day. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

Explore how the Nicene Creed and the New Testament shape belief and church life.
This thoughtful study examines the Creed’s origins, its relation to Scripture, and how early church debates continue to inform faith and practice today. It questions common divides between the Bible and the Church, offering a careful look at how history, tradition, and interpretation intertwine. The book analyzes how the New Testament presents Jesus and the core Christian message, and why attempts to separate the historical Jesus from the Christus of the Church can miss the larger story. It emphasizes continuity of idea and inspiration across Scripture and the Christian community, and it situates these questions within a broader Anglo-Catholic perspective that respects both text and tradition.
- How the Creed reflects the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus as recorded in the New Testament
- Ways scholars view the relationship between biblical texts, history, and church tradition
- Arguments for a living interpretive process that honors both Scripture and the Church
- Considerations of how Canon, Spirit, and community shape belief across ages
