Synopsis:

Excerpt from The Goodness of God

N 1897, I gave two lectures in the Theo logical Seminary at New Haven on the Recast of Faith. It is with some liberty that the following pages are said to be these lec tures. Both the substance and the form have been so far altered in rewriting that those who heard the spoken words may only gain a glimpse of recognition here and there in what is now offered.

I am glad to bid good-bye, in connection with so central and cheerful a theme as that of the goodness of God, to any who, in the years now closing, have taken pleasure in my words.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the role of suffering and evil in the Christian understanding of God's goodness. It begins by arguing that God's sovereignty and goodness are not in conflict, but rather that they complement each other. The author then explores the ways in which God uses suffering to bring about good, such as by refining our character, teaching us humility, and drawing us closer to Him. The author also argues that God's goodness is not limited to those who believe in Him, but that it extends to all people, even those who have rejected Him. This book offers a thought-provoking and ultimately hopeful perspective on the nature of God and the problem of evil, inviting readers to consider the complex ways in which God uses adversity to bring about the ultimate triumph of good. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
