About this Item
This 6.25 x 9.25 inch, 144 page hardcover book with wrapper is the first printing of the title as shown by the 1947 date on the title page. The light brown cloth covers show very little age or wear damage. There is a very small bit of crinkling to the bottom spine and one corner is a little bumped, but beyond that the cover and binding are in fine condition. The interior text also shows virtually no wear with only a hint of age browning to the paper. The dust wrapper does show wear with some small tears along the edges and considerable wear at the spine and folds, with some loss of jacket material at the spine extremities, and a one-inch tear to the rear fold. The price on the inside flap may have been removed by tearing the inside corner of the front flap. Beyond that the wrapper is solidly in one piece and the inside of the dust wrapper shows the considerable titles offered by the reputable Caxton Printers of Caldwell, Idaho - - long noted for their publications on the American West. Today San Francisco's Golden Gate Park is one of America's truly outstanding American's parklands and this book chronicles the evolution of the park from it's 1986 beginnings as a barren strip of shifting sand to today's collage of plantings from all over the world and a multitude or recreational opportunities. 144 pages.
