Item description from seller

The first records (Indian traders at H.B.Co. - Kamloops) of Cariboo gold date to 1857 about 4 years prior to the famous`RUSH'. Ludditt, who also wrote: `Barkerville Days' & `Campfire Sketches', uses 40 pages to tour us thru the gold camps on a `prospect x prospect' basis. Learn about Lowhee Creek or Cottonwood via Ludditt's anectdotal style. Handful of historic b/w photos and one map ( at center) . Cond: White cover, silver lettering. 9 nuggets in colour are cover graphic. Has not been soiled, bumped, dogged nor creased. Tight in its binding. No names, no tears. On page 19 we learn about two `modern day' dredging operations on the old Cariboo diggings, by Kafue at Whiskey Flats and by Kumhila at Pine Creek. Size: 8vo.

Store description

I am a small home-based business so I may be difficult to reach by phone. I'm in the Mountain time zone. I've been passionate about books for approximately 30 years. Thank you for thinking Wagon Tongue.

Specialty

western canadiana, ephemera & rarities, horse and horse-related, cowboy stuff, indians and North American first peoples, things that catch my eye - including (non)books, mere bagatelles
