This is an interesting bit of theatre ephemera. It is a program from April 1950 of the Syracuse Philharmonic Orchestra and the San Carlo Opera Company performing Giuseppe Verdi's great tragic opera, "Aïda". The Syracuse Philharmonic Orchestra was directed by Dr. Nicholas Gualillo, and the San Carlo Opera Company was directed by Fortune Gallo. The opera was performed April 3, 1950 in Lincoln Auditorium. The libretto was prepared in book form by A. Ghislanzoni, and published by Edwin F. Kalmus in Scarsdale, New York in the Grand Opera Libretto Series. The book measures approximately 6" x 9", is 29 pages in length, and is bound in decorated orange wraps, stapled. PLAYBILL CONDITION : GOOD ONLY - It was folded once, horizontally, displays mild weathering, a touch of spotting with shallow creasing, and is a bit rough about the edges, with the remains of clear tape to each corner, but for the bottom right corner tip, which has small loss (diagonal length of loss about an inch).
