Girl, Work That Magic. This item is unavailable.Girl, Work That Magic

A topsy-turvy tale of the sometimes entertaining, sometimes alarming and sometimes ominous incidences in which a girl is thrown into the quicksand of life; she must fight, bank on luck, get blessed, cry, win, lose- all the while hungering for elusive parental love. When things look like they are eventually working for her in what she imagines is the land of opportunity in the United States, she is confronted by questions: should I forgive my father? What about a career? And marriage?

She looks back at the journey of her life and considers whether she would have done things differently. Her journey has been an emotional rollercoaster through harrowing incidences of bad smells, violence, threats of beatings, a carjacking, to making new friends, starting a family, inspiring a generation...forgiving and yes, telling of the miracle that life is.

The moments shared here are from the depths of that reality, lived by a lady called Nancy who comes from the doldrums of a drab life in rural Kenya to the dizzying heights of America’s big scary world... where her attempts at winning are refreshingly rewarded... even with those lingering issues spurring her on!
