The brand new second edition of The Girl in the Video including the short story 'Teke Teke Teke' and an exclusive afterword.
From the author of House of Bad Memories comes a new nightmare of Gaijin J-horror, isolation, and terror for the digital age.
After an expat teacher in Japan receives a weirdly arousing video, his life descends into paranoia, obsession, and chaos.
More videos and messages follow, each laced with shocking violence and containing intimate information no stranger could possibly know. As if specially curated, just for him.
But who's sending them? What do they want? And how can he make them stop?
The answers may destroy everything and everyone he loves.
The Girl in the Video is The Ring meets Fatal Attraction for the iPhone generation.
“The Girl in the Video took me somewhere I didn’t want to go via a route I didn’t want to take. It’s an unsettling story of love, lust, and cultural disorientation that’ll flirt with you and then, when you’re at your most vulnerable, take full advantage of your good intentions.”—David Moody, author of Hater
“Compelling, tense, and disturbing, Michael David Wilson has created a frightening story here that’s only too possible in our over-connected world.”—Alan Baxter, author of The Roo
“Fans of cyber-horror, stalker thrillers, and edge-of-your-seat drama will want to pick this one up and binge-read it immediately.”—Sadie Hartmann, Cemetery Dance
“A compelling, plausible, and tense narrative that moves swiftly through to a jaw dropping conclusion.”—Laurel Hightower, author of Crossroads
“Imagine crossing a Japanese ghost story with an American slasher—welcome to the twisted world of The Girl in the Video. Michael David Wilson’s unique blend of horror genre is eerie, off-beat, and filled with nail biting tension.”—David Irons, author of Don’t Go to Wheelchair Camp
“A cracking read full of intrigue, tension and choice turns of phrase. An assured debut from a writer that promises big things.”—Dan Howarth, author of Last Night of Freedom
“An excellent, thought-provoking book that is telling of the time we live in.”—Monique Snyman, author of The Night Weaver
“Compelling, gripping, and digs into the very marrow of our technological reality. The Girl in the Video is not one to miss.”—Daniel Willcocks, author of When Winter Comes
