Vina Chopra, a New York City investment banker, is successful in business, but not in love, and, vowing to find a boyfriend before the next big family wedding, lets her parents set her up on a series of blind dates that lead her on an eye-opening journey of self-discovery. Original.
Review:
At 27, Vina Chopra is fretting about the possibility of still being single at 30. Determined to do anything to prevent that, she agrees to let her traditional parents set her up with an Indian attorney. Vina is impressed when she meets dashing and handsome Prakash, until she finds out he is gay and hoping to use her as cover to avoid coming out to his parents. The disappointment sends her back into the arms of her ex-boyfriend Jon, but she quickly discovers that their relationship exists only in the past. Disillusioned with men, Vina throws herself into her work as an investment banker, but shading goings-on in the office prove that it is no safe haven. Vina realizes she is going to have to make some major life changes if she ever hopes to find happiness. Sharma's debut novel features engaging characters as her heroine grapples with what is expected of her versus what she herself desires. Kristine Huntley
