Welcome to spooky Flagstaff!
Stay alert! Ghosts lurk around every corner. Even the most unexpected places might be haunted by wandering phantoms.
Did you know a phantom bellboy haunts the Hotel Monte Vista? Or that long-departed souls who once worked the rails still linger at Flagstaff's historic train depot? Can you believe that when the sun goes down over this quiet mountain town . . . the spirits come alive?
Pulled right from history, these ghostly tales will change the way you see Flagstaff forever, and have you sleeping with the lights on!
Julie Rathsack has been fascinated by ghosts and history since childhood, when she grew up in a house where unexplained footsteps, soft voices, and shifting shadows were part of everyday life. Those early experiences sparked a lifelong interest in the paranormal and eventually led her to explore historic locations and mysterious places all over the country.
Julie is the author of several books that blend spooky storytelling with real history. Her titles include A Haunted History of Grand Rapids, The Ghostly Tales of Grand Rapids, and The Ghostly Tales of Indiana’s Haunted Cemeteries. She also co‑wrote Ghosts of Grand Rapids, her first published book on the subject. Her work invites readers to step into the past, meet the people who shaped their communities, and discover the legends that linger behind.
Julie is the founder of Lifted Veil Paranormal Investigations, where she focuses on research, documentation, and community education. She also serves as vice president and research director for the West Michigan Ghost Hunters Society. In addition to her investigative work, Julie leads haunted history tours and presents paranormal programs at libraries, schools, and community events throughout the Midwest.
At home, Julie shares life with her husband, Dave, and their two sons, David and Sam. Their household also includes three cats and a dog named Oreo, who all contribute to the lively atmosphere.
Julie is a storyteller, historian, investigator, and mom who loves bringing spooky history to life for curious readers.
