In a world where seeing is no longer believing, one man must prove his innocence against the ultimate lie: himself.
Elias Thorne is a master of digital forensics and the Department of Justice's most trusted expert on deepfake detection and synthetic media analysis. He's spent years teaching courts, juries, and the public one undeniable truth: in the age of artificial intelligence and generative AI, anything can be faked. But when a hyper-realistic video surfaces showing Elias executing a key witness in cold blood, his own expertise becomes his death sentence. The footage is flawless—biometrically verified using facial recognition software, metadata perfect, lighting matched to his exact GPS location from that night. Every test he invented to catch deepfakes and AI-generated content confirms it's authentic. And because Elias taught the world that video evidence can't be trusted in the post-truth era, no one believes him when he claims it's a sophisticated artificial intelligence frame-up. Not the police. Not the media. Not even his own wife.
Framed by cutting-edge neural networks and deep learning algorithms trained on stolen surveillance footage from his own smart home security cameras, Elias becomes a fugitive hunted by both law enforcement and a faceless enemy who controls his digital ghost. As he races underground through the dark web to expose the conspiracy, he discovers a terrifying reality: the corporation he was investigating has weaponized the liar's dividend—the principle that once people know fakes exist, even truth becomes suspect. Every piece of evidence he uncovers through penetration testing and data forensics is instantly dismissed as another forgery. Every alibi is called a manipulation. Every witness video he leaks is labeled synthetic media. The more he fights with digital evidence and cybersecurity tools, the deeper he sinks into the post-truth quicksand. When he discovers a live-stream deepfake plot that will show him committing a mass-casualty terrorist attack in real-time using adversarial AI, Elias must abandon the digital battlefield entirely and pursue an analog solution that no algorithm can fake—physical evidence that will force an un-fakeable glitch in the AI's perfect illusion.
The Ghost Protocol is a pulse-pounding cybersecurity thriller that explores facial recognition exploitation, computer vision manipulation, machine learning poisoning, voice cloning technology, and the weaponization of deepfake technology in the near-future surveillance state. Perfect for readers who crave technology thrillers with authentic hacking scenarios and penetration testing operations, AI suspense involving generative adversarial networks and biometric authentication bypasses, and conspiracy fiction where digital forensics and incident response meet edge-of-your-seat action. This standalone techno-thriller delivers a dark exploration of misinformation warfare, synthetic media creation, algorithmic deception, privacy invasion, and identity theft at the quantum level—where your greatest enemy wears your face and speaks with your voice through natural language processing. Experience a high-tech cat-and-mouse chase through encrypted networks, data privacy nightmares, social engineering schemes, and the terrifying intersection of deep learning systems and criminal justice manipulation. If you love psychological thrillers with tech noir atmosphere, political intrigue involving corporate espionage and nation-state cyber warfare, near-future dystopian scenarios grounded in current artificial intelligence capabilities, and mind-bending mysteries where perception becomes unreliable, this page-turner will keep you reading past midnight. When every pixel is a potential lie and truth-detection systems fail, can one man prove reality still exists?
This is a standalone novel in the Zero-day Chronicles Thrillers series. Each book can be read independently.
