“Get in the Water! 194 Aquatic Exercises for Fitness and Rehabilitation,” will help you optimize theresources in this book. The first DVD shows Laura performing each of the exercises. The exercises aredemonstrated in a 30-to-60-second-long clip, which includes both the purpose of each exercise andan explanation of how to perform the exercise. The second DVD provides additional suggestions forperforming the exercises, such as alterations and modifications to make them more or less difficult.It also cites guidelines for specific patient populations. While listening to the narration, relatedexercises are demonstrated for the viewer.

About the Author
Laura Diamond, PT, MS is a physical therapist and educator. She has worked in the aquatic industry for over 40 years, and is recognized as a leading aquatic physical therapist nationwide. Laura loves her work and feels privileged to make a difference in the lives of many patients: children, seniors, athletes and severely disabled individuals. She is deeply committed to her patients’ well being. As a water safety instructor and physical therapist, she often integrates therapeutic techniques, water safety and adapted swimming instruction.
She established Diamond Physical Therapy Associates, PC in 1993 and takes great pride in her practice. Since 1993, Laura has successfully maintained her commitment to individualized care and exceptional patient service. Laura is regarded by her colleagues as being the “go-to” aquatic physical therapist in the Boston area.
Experiences as an aquatics director, instructor trainer, consultant, and swimming coach led Laura to obtain her degree in physical therapy and specialize in therapeutic aquatics. Laura received a Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Boston University in 1989, a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Saint Lawrence University in 1978 and has completed postgraduate courses in manual therapy and water therapy techniques.
Being in and around water is not only her profession - it is her passion. Laura is an avid kayaker and swimmer, often going into the wilderness worldwide for extended camping and kayaking trips. There, she enjoys the peace, solitude, meditation and rejuvenation that the water provides.
Philip Marchese, PT, DPT is a physical therapist in home health care, which is where he believes he can make the largest impact on his patients’ lives. Phil also has treated patients in the aquatic environment and has conducted evidence-based research on the impact of therapeutic aquatic exercise.
Phil received his Bachelors of Science degree in Exercise Science from Syracuse University and his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree at Boston University. He has completed postgraduate education courses in manual techniques and orthopedic injury management.
In addition to being a physical therapist, he has been a business owner, real estate investor and is an entrepreneur. His most rewarding accomplishment is his devotion to his wife and triplet boys.
