A smart, funny heroine. A cozy Scottish mystery. A faith-filled adventure you won’t want to put down.

Jet-lagged, after the long flight from the States, Libby Carlsen trips over her sister’s suitcase and stumbles into a mystery. Actually, more than one. Big-city Edinburgh is so different from Libby’s home in California. Is she up to all the changes? Will she make friends? And then there’s the conversation she accidentally overhears between her aunt and Mr. MacLeod, the owner of the local bakery. Could someone really be trying to hurt his business? It seems unlikely and yet . . . Philippa, a neighborhood girl with a flair for the dramatic, is certain SOMETHING is going on at the bakery. She wants Libby to help her investigate. Sleuthing turns out to be edge-of-your-seat exciting, but it has its downside—false leads and embarrassing setbacks. Sleuthing also can be dangerous . . .

When 11-going-on-12-year-old Libby is sent from sunny California to foggy Edinburgh to stay with her Gran (grandmother) and Aunt Susannah—innkeepers of a friendly bed-and-breakfast—she’s not thrilled. Her parents are leaving for the mission field in Ecuador without her, her older sister Mags is constantly babying her, and she misses her big brother back home. But Scotland has surprises of its own—starting with some mysterious circumstances at the neighborhood bakery.
With a heart full of curiosity and a nose for clues, Libby teams up with two new friends—the impulsive Philippa ("Everyone calls me Phil.") and the practical Malcolm—to uncover the truth. What begins as an ordinary summer becomes a mystery adventure full of secrets, scones, and self-discovery.
Rooted in faith and bubbling with charm, I Get A Clue blends gentle suspense with meaningful messages about honesty, courage, and trusting God through life’s unexpected changes. Perfect for middle grade readers ages 9–13 who love clean, cozy whodunits with a heroine who leads with kindness, respect, and a lively sense of humor.
