Red leather spine with raised bands and gold text; Boards strong, generally clean, with shelfwear and edgewear, rubbing at corners - some boards exposed, rubbing at both ends of spine, spine darkened with age, scuff marks on front cover, scuff marks and a couple abrasions on back cover as well as an indentation near spine, leather requires polishing, all gilt lettering and accents dulled with age; Textblock darkened with age, otherwise clean, aside from minor red ink underlining early in text, strong musty odor, front inner hinge cracked, marbled endpapers, inside edges of board decorated with gilt designs, previous booksellers' stamp affixed to front pastedown, names of previous owners inscribed on front free endpaper, name of another previous owner inscribed on a following flyleaf, text is printed in Gothic script, textblock peppered with faint foxing, two ribbon markers affixed to headband, the second partially detached, fore and tail edges tanned and untrimmed, top edge gilt intact yet dulled with age; pp 444.
