This collection of specially commissioned contributions by leading scholars in German Studies gives a comprehensive overview of the current and future state of the discipline in British and Irish universities; in particular in terms of topics taught and methodologies used in Undergraduate Programmes. Any such course provision faces the challenge of striking the right balance between academic standards, the expectations and interests of the students, demands by potential employers and the tightening of resources. 249 Seiten, broschiert (German Linguistic and Cultural Studies; Vol. 1/Peter Lang Verlag 1998).
