In primary schools the standards of achievement in relation to pupils' capabilities were satisfactory or better in 86% of lessons. There was great variability in the quality of practice, both between and within schools. In secondary schools standards of achievement in relation to pupils' capabilities were satisfactory or better in 83% of lessons in Key Stage 3 and 86% of lessons in Key Stage 4.
