It has not been so long ago that the German football league was thoughtful and promised radical changes. Away from ever faster, higher, more and towards economies with a sense of proportion was the idea for improving the struck football image. But nothing has been implemented.
No wonder: it's no longer about sports, it's about business. Whether DFB tickets or prizes for fan items – football is an overpriced pleasure for many fans. Journalist Christoph Ruf clearly presents the facts and shows how much pure PR is behind the promises.
- Future football: how the DFL preaches sustainability and what is actually implemented
- After the criticism of the 2022 World Cup: what is being done to better represent the European Championship in Germany?
- Increasingly higher players, exploited employees: what goes wrong in German football clubs
- Tough DFB criticism: Has the industry finally proven to be incapable of reform?
How moral is football? Christoph reputation about the reform inability of professional football and fans who can be sold for stupid.
For a while, German football gave itself thoughtful, profound reforms and economies with a sense of proportion were announced. Instead, the hamster wheel rotates even faster: while player salaries and consultant commissions have reached a new record high, many clubs are hostile to employment conditions, the fans are always brazen ripped off. Meanwhile, the league propagates ever newer "sustainability strategies" to give itself a greener image, but excludes the greatest environmental sins. Time for a reckoning with professional football and those who still go on the glue.
