A selection of seven short stories (see image) by Dostoevsky with an introduction by the translator, David Magarshack. The publisher's blurb refers to a particular interest for 'English readers with the author s description of London of the sixties in the last century (i.e. the 1860s).' No. 36 in the Chiltern Libraries series of publications with dust jacket cover decoration by French illustrator, Phillippe Jullian. Condition: dj is intact but chipped in places and tanned - see image of folded out jacket. The royal blue cloth boards are in a sound overall condition; with a little fading at the head of the spine where the gilt (gold) titles are located. Tight binding; slight spotting on top and fore edges. Internally, slight tanning and occasional spotting - on the preliminary and final pages. pp.xvii, 272/16mo.
