About the Author: Amy J. Leith Mullings, Ph.D., is Presidential Professor of Anthropology at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, and recipient of the Prize for Distinguished Achievement in the Critical Study of North America (1997) from the Society for the Anthropology of North America.
