Print on Demand. This book examines gas poisoning in industrial settings, including mining and ironworks, discussing remote effects of carbon monoxide and chronic poisoning by furnace gas. The author was motivated to write this book because of the increasing number of gas poisoning cases in industry and a lack of documentation on the subject. The book delves into the physiological effects of gas poisoning, including post-mortem appearances and the potential for permanent damage to the heart and nervous system. Cases of sudden death from poisoning are discussed, with emphasis on the challenge of determining an accurate cause of death in such cases. The text also includes a thorough examination of the symptoms of poisoning by various gases and explores the difficulties in diagnosing conditions resulting from gas exposure. The author provides a historical context for the use of gases in industry and gives detailed descriptions of typical mining accidents that illustrate the dangers of gas poisoning. Ultimately, this book is not only a valuable resource for medical practitioners and legal professionals, but also a call to action for increased awareness and preventive measures to combat gas poisoning in the workplace. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
