Title: Gambling (2 Vols Complete)
Publisher: Irish University Press
Book Condition: As New
1968. Hardback. Up to 1845 British law on gambling was complicated, obscure and in many cases inoperative. The popularity of horse racing particularly made the law difficult to enforce even where the law was clear. The select committee reports submitted in 1844 provide a thorough account of gaming practices. This report provided much which ended up in the 1845 Gaming act. Volume II provides committee reports dealing with lotteries in 1808 and 1834, and reports on foreign legislation on gambling. Bound in the publishers original green half morocco leather. Fine & complete. . . . . Books ship from the US and Ireland. Bookseller Inventory # KTJ0005312
