The assassin’s poison spreads through Big Red's body, taking away the one thing he's always been able to rely on: his strength.
He can't fight, can barely walk, but he and Keldee can't go back to Tisynic without Ryll and the fortune she stole.
But Ryll's gone: fled in a zeppelin with a warrior even mightier than Big Red on his best day.
Keldee knows a way to track her down. An ancient artifact, built by the goblins, and kept in the heart of the city from which she was exiled.
Keldee yearns to return to the city of glittering gems and peerless craftsmanship, but she'd be executed if she ever stepped foot inside the gates. And she dreads facing the people she long ago hurt with her failed invention.
But Keldee isn't the same goblin they cast out. She's bargained with a mob boss, battled a dragon, and trapped a magical liar.
She's been betrayed by a man she thought a friend.
And there's only one way forward. One way to catch Ryll, to save Red. That way leads away from the monocled orcs of the capitalist Bulu, through the elven forests of Ashendell, over the sparkscale-infested mountains of the stormbeards, and into the grisly heart of the goblin stronghold.
