Add to basketGreen Tribology and Industry 4.0: Fundamentals and Sustainable Advancements explores the integration of sustainable practices in tribology with the emerging paradigms of Industry 4.0. This edited volume presents a unique opportunity to connect tribological systems with the latest advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). The book particularly emphasizes lubrication science, surface engineering and related fields to promote sustainable development goals and to provide readers with a comprehensive understanding of modern sustainable tribological systems.
The edited volume includes:
Green Tribology and Industry 4.0: Fundamentals and Sustainable Advancements aims to raise awareness within the research community about stringent environmental regulations, the need to minimize carbon footprints and the importance of reducing reliance on depleting energy resources. The book advocates for greener approaches and more efficient industrial systems across sectors. With a focus on practical, future-ready solutions, this book serves as a valuable resource for young researchers, engineers, academicians and industry professionals striving for innovation and sustainability in modern industrial practices.
V Vasu serves as Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department & Associate Dean (Industrial Consultancy) at National Institute of Technology, Warangal, India. Prof. Vasu graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Nagarjuna University, Post Graduation in Manufacturing Engineering from BITS, Pilani, PhD from JNTU, Hyderabad and POST-DOC under Erasmus Mundus fellowship from Politecnico Di Milano, Italy, Europe. His areas of research are Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, Robotics, IIoT and Smart Manufacturing. He has published 45 research papers in International Journals and has participated in several conferences and presenting technical papers. He developed an online pedagogy course for “Mechatronics” and Systems & Controls under ICT MHRD, India. He has executed sponsored research projects worth of 1.37Cr funded from different funding agencies. He was awarded Young Engineer 2010 Award by IE India and Govt of AP, Best Research 2020 Award by NITWAA and Outing Standing Engineer 2021 from IE India Jaipur chapter on 75th Independence Day during 15th August 2021.
Gourav Khajuria serves in the Mechanical Engineering Department of Government College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, India. He completed his Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, Jammu, and his Master of Technology in Industrial Tribology and Maintenance Management from National Institute of Technology, Srinagar, India. His research focuses on the mechanical properties and tribological characteristics of materials in various industrial applications. He worked on super alloys materials at high temperatures to investigate the tribological behaviour of surface interaction under dry conditions. He has expanded his research in the field of biomedical applications. He is working in an interdisciplinary field and exploring how material properties can be optimized for use in medical devices and other healthcare technologies, contributing to the development of safer and more effective solutions in the medical field. He has published his research work in SCI and Scopus-indexed journals.
Upendra Maurya earned his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Mumbai, India, in 2012, followed by an M.Tech in Industrial Tribology and Maintenance Management from the National Institute of Technology Srinagar, India, in 2016. During his master's program, he conducted research as a visiting student at CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun, India, focusing on the impact of molecular chain length on lubricant properties particularly viscosity. Dr. Maurya completed his PhD at the prestigious National Institute of Technology Warangal India, specializing in the multidisciplinary field of tribology, with a particular focus on hybrid nanolubricants composed of ionic liquids and nanoparticles. Dr. Maurya is currently working as an Assistant Professor at Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering, Pune, India. He has published over 11 papers in reputable international journals, with several others under review. Dr. Maurya has expertise in the synthesis of ionic liquids, surface characterization techniques, and the development of innovative lubricant additives and formulations.
