"In the third millenium before Christ, Egyptians built the Great Pyramid at Giza using mathematical and scientific laws which were not believed to have been discovered until the time of the Greeks in 1700 B.C. or later. These laws displayed such sophistication and intricacy that, to this day, men are searching for the full explanation of how those early Egyptian masters could have known such secrets. Current fascination with the pyramids of Egypt in general, and the Great Pyramid in particular, can be found among thinkers of all casts of mind, from the university intellectuals researching the amazingly advanced mathematics of the ancient Egyptians, to the followers of the occult who claim to have achieved greater wisdom and personal power through study of the pyramids. One of the great scholars in this field was Piazzi Smyth, whose major life work is contained in a volume here being reissued as The Great Pyramid: Its Secrets and Mysteries Revealed because of its relevance today. Piazzi Smyth, the Astronomer ~ Royal for Scotland in the late nineteenth century, not only had keen scientific ability but tremendous curiosity about the pyramid. He and his wife traveled to Egypt and spent many months camping out on the site, enduring months of privation, in order to thoroughly study the pyramid. He believed that there were powerful ties to Christianity in this early civilization. His meticulous drawing, his precise calculations, his logical reasoning will astound those who pursue his findings and his deductions about their relationship to religion will, at the very least, interest the curious.
