Gilt illustration to upper board, possibly the Coat of Arms of the House of Fugger. Gilt Maroon decorative staining to top edges. Dustjacket. Dustjacket chipped at head and foot of spine and at top and bottom of folding edges of dustjacket. Spine of dustjacket internally repaired with Sellotape along joint with front panel of dustjacket. Superficial area of loss to bottom edge of rear panel of dustjacket. 0.5 cm and 1 cm closed tears to top edge of rear panel of dustjacket. A very good copy in a fair dustjacket. Please note the variant dustjacket: The "F" in Fugger would appear to have been printed as a "B" on the rear panel of the dustjacket. According to Wikipedia, "the founder of the family was Johann Fugger, a weaver at Graben, near the Swabian Free City of Augsburg. The last name was originally spelled "F***er" - the first recorded reference to the family comes when Johann's son, also named Johann (or Hans), moves to Augsburg in 1367, with the local tax register laconically noting F***er advenit, "Fugger has arrived".
