"When we are taught about war it is always about strategies, goals, the countries, the leaders, both political and military. It is only since the advent of battlefront reporting, of turning on your television and seeing actual wars in progress, putting names to faces, "meeting" both soldiers and civilians who are caught in the day-to-day struggle for survival, that war has become real for civilians. Now Denise Little has challenged writers to look at that "small" picture, the up close and personal experiences of those who must fight on the front lines every day. The result is Front Lines, 21 original tales that run the gamut from epic intergalactic struggles for the future of humankind to the microcosm of a single abandoned toy soldier in a boy's backyard. Here are stories that range from a chemical experiment gone horrible wrong--to a young recruit who may hold the key to "understanding" the enemy--to a US-Canadian conflict where the team attempting to broker peace is a joint Palestinian-Israeli unit--to a half-mortal knight trying to avert a war with the Elfin Host--to a Battle of Trenton fought against seven-foot tall Saurians--" -- from publisher's web site. Due to age and/or environmental conditions, the pages of this book have darkened. Solid binding. Moderate edgewear on the boards. Moderate shelf wear. Nineteen all-new tales that look at war from the perspective of everyone from human to alien, pixie to toy. From epic intergalactic struggles for the future of humankind to the microcosm of a single abandoned toy soldier in a boy’s backyard; from a chemical experiment gone horribly wrong to a young recruit who may hold the key to ?understanding” the enemy; from a half-mortal knight trying to avert a war with the Elfin Host to a Battle of Trenton fought against seven-foot tall Saurians, Front Lines brings together a diverse array of imaginative explorations of the phenomenon of war.
