Original green cloth, lettered in gilt and decorated in black. All edges gilt. No ads in this edition. No listing of illustrations but I counted 8 full page illiustrations. Some creases to the spine and evidence of some minor repair to the spine. Two previous owner signatures (the same name) to the front paste-down and the verso of the front free endpaper. It is buried at the back of Newbolt but there it is - 12.3A Publishers code to foot of the copyright page reads M: S. & S.: 9.91. Originally published in 1883.
