My Friend Flicka, by Mary O'Hara and illustrated by Don Sibley, published as a Book Club Edition by J. B. Lippincott Company c.1941, presented in tan textured boards with black pictorial stamping. This BCE reissue retains the beloved text of O'Hara's classic coming-of-age novel about young Ken McLaughlin and his deepening bond with a spirited filly on a Wyoming horse ranch. Sibley's line drawings appear throughout, complementing the story's emotional warmth and Western atmosphere. The dust jacket retains its full illustrated wraparound art but shows age-soiling and uniform mottling to the front panel, with chipping and several short tears along the top edge, one larger loss at rear top corner, and small nicks at the spine ends. The jacket is complete and still visually appealing but grades Good only due to staining and edge wear. The book itself is Very Good, clean and structurally sound, with only light rubbing at extremities and mild toning to pages; binding square and tight. Endpapers clean aside from faint offsetting. This printing includes the standard Book Club Edition indicators: absence of price, BCE statement on flap, and slightly different binding than the original trade edition. While it does not represent a true first edition, it remains an attractive vintage copy for collectors of horse literature, Western juveniles, or mid-century Lippincott BCEs. A solid, readable copy in its original jacket, displaying its period illustration and production style. …
